Car robbery
• It is common in Judea,
Samaria and the Negev, that car thieves impersonate innocent people whose car
broke down. They signal you to stop and ask for your help, then take over your
car and run away with both cars.
• Sometimes they initiate
a minor accident with your car, to get you to stop and get out of the car to
check the damage, then they run away with both cars.
• They may try to block
your car at a traffic light or while driving, then get out of their car and try
to take control of your car, sometimes violently.
• Their car may have yellow Israeli
identification plates, and may be dressed as religious Jews.

To defend yourself from car robbery
1.
Be suspicious of any such situation.
2.
Always maintain a distance from the car in front of you
sufficient to make a U-turn and escape if danger arises.
3.
Make sure your car doors are locked, and the windows are
closed.
4.
Under no circumstances should you open a window or door, or
get out of the car, until you are sure the people are in legitimate need of
help. You can open the window a small crack to hear.
5.
Approach without getting out of your car, just to verify
their identity.
6.
If they are not suspicious, help as much as you can.
7.
If they are suspicious, continue driving quickly to a
safe place, and report to the moked/security center.
8.
At a gas station or wherever you stopped, do not leave
keys in the car as you exit the vehicle. Robbers may watch secretly and take
advantage of a moment of distraction on the part of the unsuspecting driver to enter
his car and flee the scene.

Shooting
![]() |
• Be alert for suspicious signs on the road (e.g., a barrier), or in cars driving near you (e.g., suspicious passengers, driving too close to you).
• Shooting causes a lot
of sudden tension. Be prepared, and as in any emergency, keep your cool and act
with common sense.
• The most important
thing is that you move away from the source of the shooting. If someone is
injured, God forbid, take care of them immediately when you are a safe distance
from the place of danger. Instruct the passengers to bend their heads between
their knees.
• The driver should also
lower his head and body, while continuing to view the road in front of him.
• Try to quickly identify
the direction of the shooting with respect to your vehicle.
1.
If the shooter is behind you:
Drive forward while veering
the vehicle left and right, in a zigzag, slalom motion. This makes it harder
for the shooter to hit the car.
2.
If the shooter is far ahead of you, and you can drive back:
Brake immediately, do a
quick U-turn or a reverse - and drive in the opposite direction in a zigzag
motion as mentioned above.
3.
If the shooter is in front of you, and you cannot drive back:
Drive forward quickly and
run him over.
4.
If the shooter is in the car driving next to you:
Stop abruptly, drive back
quickly, or do a quick U-turn and escape in the opposite direction.
