Preparing the Car Before the Ride
1.
Keep your car in good condition. You do not want to get
stuck on a deserted road.
2.
Keep the windows clean, so you can see your surroundings
clearly.
3.
Have large and good mirrors, so you can see as much as
possible on the sides and behind the car.
4.
Have a spare tire and tire changing tools.
5.
Keep in the car: a strong flashlight; a can of tire
filler (in case of puncture); a fire extinguisher; a first aid bag.
6.
Keep a small knife near the driver, for cutting seat
belts in case they cannot be opened in the usual way.
7.
When driving, always lock the car doors and close the
windows (especially in dangerous areas).
8.
Those who live in Judea and Samaria are entitled to
professional car window protection against stones: https://did.li/Oxsrl
9.
If the car is protected against stones, the passengers
will not be harmed. The protection also provides partial safety against Molotov
cocktails.
10. A loud horn can deter threats. Consider installing a very
loud horn in your car, separate from the normal horn. A siren sound is
prohibited by law.
Additional Preparations Before the
Ride
1.
Explain to passengers, in particular to children, what
they are to do in an emergency situation. For small children, an explanation in
the form of a game is recommended.
2.
Make sure the route is clear to you. Try to avoid
dangerous roads. Use Waze or GPS.
3.
Take at least one mobile phone with you. Have available
the number for the moked (regional security center) and other emergency
services (see below).
4.
Ask the moked, or the guards at the gate, about the
current situation on the road.
Emergency? Call the Security Center (Moked)
1.
State what happened, location (be as specific as
possible), your direction of travel, how many people are with you, whether
anybody was hurt, your car model, the situation on the road.
2.
The moked should report to emergency and rescue agencies
in the area.

Car breakdown
If there is a breakdown that requires
stopping the car on the way:
1.
Stop in a safe place and wear a yellow vest.
2.
At night or in dangerous places, call the moked, so that
help will be sent to you.
On the Road
1.
Say Tfilat HaDerech with kavana.
2.
Drive at a reasonable speed: not too fast and not too
slow.
3.
Be alert. Pay close attention to the road, the sides of
the road, also far away from you, if there is anything unusual: gatherings of
people, traffic jams, smoke, loud noise.
4.
Avoid stopping at non-Jewish villages, or close to them,
or at roadside stands.
5.
Always maintain a sufficient distance from the car in
front of you, which will allow you to make a U-turn and escape if danger arises.
6.
When escaping danger, look only in the direction you are
driving.
